In this rapidly changing world, blockchain technology has become widely adopted. Despite its fast adoption, barriers to entry still exist. They include limited access to verified knowledge and technology in the blockchain space.
In the third edition of Salad Spotlight, we spoke to Joanna Ng, the Head of Client Relations at Galxe.
Previously a Senior Analyst at Bybit for over a year, Joanna aims to play a key role in the mass adoption of Web3 globally with the skills and knowledge she has gained through her professional career in blockchain.
Women in Web3
Web3 is a space for everyone from all backgrounds to come together, connect and build, and Joanna is no different. She is one of the most influential women in the space especially after building her reputation through the lessons and connections she has formed along the way.
In today’s space, connections and relationships are key qualities that any Web3 project should focus on, says Joanna. She prefers the way Web3 projects are acquainted with one another, where the founders are networking on the ground themselves. She finds it easier to get to know what the founders’ vision for the project is when meeting them IRL.
It’s no secret that the Web3 and blockchain industry is incredibly male-dominated and it can be hard for women to break into the scene due to the fear of not receiving equal opportunities. On this point, Joanna encourages more women to share their points of view while staying true to themselves.
“They should not be afraid of feedback and share their points of view. You have to give value first before you can receive it in return. Staying true to yourself will be your compass in navigating Web3.”
Seamless Transition to Web3
As the leading Web3 credential data network in the world, Galxe has made it their mission to increase the ease of access for users to mint NFTs across different projects and campaigns. They do this by pioneering and focusing on the use of on-chain achievement tokens, otherwise known as OATs. To date, Galxe has 8 million users and over a thousand ecosystem partners on their platform.
As the Head of Client Relations, Joanna manages different projects. She also works with companies that are looking to move from Web2 to Web3 and helps them to achieve that seamless transition with Galxe.
NFTs vs OATs
Galxe helps Web2 brands to transition to Web3 by using innovative technology like their credential verification system, which tracks users and their achievements.
Instead of replacing NFTs, OATs complement NFTs extremely well. According to Joanna, they can be used as a prerequisite to minting NFTs.
Through their own credential verification system, Galxe can verify users with OATs before allowing them to mint the NFT. This provides projects with the opportunity to create new initiatives and creative requirements like attending IRL events or even contributing directly to the community; all while utilizing Galxe’s credential verification technology.
Currently, OATs are being used as badges to reward users who participate in virtual events like Twitter or Discord AMAs. Joanna believes that OATs can also contribute in a bigger manner through IRL or SocialFi events like Salad Tuesdays.
For example, attendees of Salad Tuesdays could get a limited edition OAT badge to validate their IRL participation at the event. This could be an added incentive for community members to come for Salad Tuesdays actively and regularly.
“Galxe has made it easier to adopt the use of OATs, because it is completely free to mint on the platform. Galxe will cover 100% of the minting fee. This encourages more projects to use OATs to engage their community and their members will feel that they are rewarded for their participation.”
Forming Partnerships and Building Relationships
Just last week, Club Salad is proud to announce Galxe as the exclusive partner of Salad’s Web 3.0 Meetups, for the remaining 4 sessions of 2022.
They are no stranger to community-building and have since developed (and will continue to develop more) ways for their ecosystem spaces to grow and include the iconic Galxe OAT.
As the Head of Client Relations, Joanna was the key catalyst in making this partnership happen. A regular attendee of Salad Tuesdays as well, Joanna is impressed with the way Club Salad has formed a strong and valuable community (or what we call the #SaladFam) through our biweekly networking sessions.
In today’s space, connections and relationships are key qualities that any Web3 project should focus on, says Joanna.
She added that having such a strong community not only helps to connect existing professionals in the space, but also onboard Web2 professionals to Web3. Events like Salad Tuesdays give Web2 professionals an accurate sneak peek of what really goes on in the space and Galxe wants to kickstart this movement by joining us as an exclusive partner for Salad Tuesdays 2022.
“Galxe wants to be a part of this and this fits nicely with our mission to make Web3 a more accessible space for everyone.”
What’s Next?
Making Web3 and blockchain technology accessible to anybody will be a key milestone in the development of the industry. Hence, we need to leverage and improve existing Web2 technology to make it an easier assimilation process.
Our previous Salad Spotlight guest, Daniel Chou of Mino Games, asked which confluent technology would be important to Web3’s rise. To which Joanna answered: data analytic technologies.
The world of Web3 is filled with different sorts of data like charts, figures and lots of numbers. Joanna believes that data analytics technology can make sense of complicated data and simplify it for people who don’t understand how to interpret the data.
This will not only rival the technology that Web3 has to offer but also play an important part in the mass adoption of Web3.
To continue this tradition that we have on Salad Spotlight, Joanna has two questions for our next guest:
What are some ways by which we can help onboard more Web2 professionals onto Web3?
How long do you think this Web3 wave will last? Is it going to die off in a few years or will we make Web4 a reality?
