Salad Spotlight: Kishor M
Building a strong community is the hallmark of any successful Web3 project.
Building a strong community is the hallmark of any successful Web3 project.
Salad Tuesdays, our own biweekly networking session, organized by the Club Salad team focuses on building an ever-growing group of builders in the Web3 space via IRL events.
To provide even more value to our community members, the Club Salad team launched “Salad Spotlight” — a new series to feature the most influential Club Salad Access Pass holders within the #SaladFam.
At Salad Tuesdays #15, held on the 18th of October 2022, we had an IRL chat with one of the most prominent figures in the NFT and Web3 community — Kishor M.
Kishor is a notable and well-liked figure in the NFT and Web3 space. He is also the founder and CEO of two outstanding Web3 projects, CrowdFundJunction (CFJ) and MadForNFTs. Both of these projects help to foster a strong sense of community, but in completely different ways.
Being a Venture Capitalist in Web3
CrowdFundJunction is a venture capital decentralized autonomous organization (DAO) that backs and invests in Web3 projects with the potential to grow.
The venture capital follows a DAO format, which means all of its existing members have a say in the decision and fund allocation of the venture capital.
“These projects are pitched to a community, and our community will decide whether they will buy into them. And if the majority agrees, then and only then will we go ahead.”
Outside of CrowdFundJunction, Kishor is also on the lookout for projects to invest in to help them succeed in Web3. One of the key qualities he looks for in a project is its community growth and strategies.
“My first criteria are the founders. The founders should be doxxed. Most importantly, I look for projects that have a good community traction. It’s easier for me to value the project and decide based on how strong the community is.”
The Technology behind NFTs and Improving their Utility
Other than managing a venture capital DAO, Kishor is also an active member of the NFT community. He founded MadForNFTs, which is an NFT launchpad that helps celebrities to kickstart their NFT collections.
Kishor is a big believer in the potential of NFTs and the utility that it can provide to the real world. When asked about which NFT projects are most likely to succeed, he acknowledged that the profile picture NFT meta was good, but utility NFTs are the future of the space.
Utility can be provided in many ways, and it’s up to the project founders to figure out how they can best provide utility to their community members. Kishor thinks that one underrated way of providing utility to NFT holders is through GameFi projects.
Previously, play-to-earn games used to reward players with tokens, but have since switched to NFTs as a main form of reward. This can only be beneficial to attracting gamers who are genuinely interested in the game as Kishor explains.
However, that doesn’t mean that GameFi projects that reward players with tokens are not as good. In his opinion, finding the balance between both forms of rewards is vital.
“I would say having both fungible and non-fungible tokens is the way to go. Any project that has both [tokens and NFTs] is a project that I would say will have a much wider acceptance than a project that has only one of the two.”
Importance of Communities that Provide Value
NFTs may not be the only option to value-add the Web3 community. Strengthening communities through IRL events is something that Club Salad is focused on for 8 months now.
Kishor echoes the same sentiment by planning and executing events as a founding member of the Asia Blockchain Association (ABA), on top of his already active involvement in multiple communities like ApeGangNFT.
Alone, We Can Do So Little; Together, We Can Do So Much
As one of Club Salad’s most loyal fans, Kishor is a regular attendee of Salad Tuesdays and was also one of our earliest minters of the Club Salad Access Pass.
“I’m a big fan of Salad Ventures, the way you guys are structured and your entire NFT is what people should learn from.”
Kishor added that continuity is important in maintaining personal relationships, instead of just forming one-off connections that provide no value.
“You curate the people that add value. I know exactly who I’m meeting at Salad Tuesdays, so I come to them and add value and they can do the same for me.”
If you wish to be featured as one of our guests on the Salad Spotlight, be sure to mint our Club Salad Access Pass. You can also enjoy exclusive access to our events in 2022, early updates to future Salad Ventures’ projects, and more.
