In this new era of Web3 innovations, the ability for blockchains to communicate with other blockchains, or also known as ‘blockchain interoperability’ has been a massive issue the industry has been trying to solve.
Developments In Communication Across Chains
With the introduction of the Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM) was a step in the right direction, backed by some of the biggest blockchains such as Avalanche, Binance Smart Chain, Fantom Opera and Polygon.
Gavin Woods and Greg Colvin, together with their team, masterminded and brought EVM to life. Today it has transformed Ethereum into a unique ecosystem within other technologies that use blockchain, representing true innovation in the development of these technologies.
Others such as Polkadot is one of the companies that are trying to solve this cross chain issue. In order for blockchains to work together, a common language is required for communication and by setting the standard with a common language called XCM, it allows for secure messaging across their native blockchains with external networks via bridges.
Much of these considerations were brought in while building a product such as GuildOS as requirements that were needed to scale as it deals with different wallets and games on different chains.
The Benefits Of Interoperability
Interoperability has to work for the vision of a global Web3 unique identity, a way for a single identity to exist across all chains. Think of it similar to Google sign-ins. The ability to sign-in anywhere in the world and gaining access to all the assets stored within it at any point of time.
With interoperability, different decentralised applications (Dapps) on different chains can communicate with each other and makes data sharing easier. In a real world scenario, it could mean sensitive information such as medical or financial records to be easily accessible by utilising the transparency of authentication with blockchain technology.
Interoperability Within GuildOS
The new games that GuildOS are currently integrating with such as Thetan Arena and Cyball exist on the Binance chain, which allows for users to register a single wallet that is part of the Binance chain to store both Cyball and Thetan Arena assets. This eliminates the number of times users have to input their private keys.
This aligns with our vision of building towards the future. With games, if they are on different chains but EVM compatible, it allows for asset transfers across these chains. This has made it easier for our developers to scale with more games in a shorter span of time and giving users the best decentralised user experience.
